Summary Background:
In August 2019, the City contracted Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. to develop an affordable housing strategy for the City of Hyattsville. Enterprise Community Partners, whose mission is to create opportunity for low- and moderate-income people through affordable housing, divided their scope of work into two complementary phases.

Phase 1 included the completion of a baseline conditions analysis and concluded in July 2020. Enterprise Community Partners is currently working through Phase 2 of this project, which will focus on the development of a Housing Action Agenda for the City.

To complete Phase 2, the Enterprise Team will facilitate a two-part remote workshop with Hyattsville City Council. The first of the two-part workshop is scheduled for the October 5th City Council meeting and aims to gather input and build consensus on a short list of priority housing needs and goals for the City.

Next Steps:
Following this workshop, the Enterprise Community Partners team will use Council member input, along with additional data, to identify and prioritize affordable housing tools.

A second workshop will be scheduled later in the fall which will focus on discussing the costs and benefits of the selected housing tools relative to priority needs and objectives.
