Summary Background:
The Maryland Municipal Clerks Association (MMCA) brings municipal and county clerks together to promote improvement and efficiency in the operations of clerks’ offices throughout the state of Maryland. Each year, the members of the association vote to select the MMCA Clerk of the Year. This year, the MMCA membership selected City of Hyattsville City Clerk and Director of Communications and Legislative Services Laura Reams as the 2024 Clerk of the Year.
Clerk Reams has been the Hyattsville City Clerk for over ten years, and in that time has brought innovative ideas to all aspects related to the role, but specifically related to progressive community outreach initiatives and implementing cutting-edge technology and practices for the administration of elections. Her unparalleled accomplishments in these areas have had a reach far beyond Hyattsville as she is often asked to share her knowledge and wisdom with other municipalities by presenting at conferences across the nation or by lending her expertise on specific issues to local colleagues. Her commitment to community and excellence at the municipal level is evident to all who interact with her. She is truly deserving of Clerk of the Year and her impact will be felt by Hyattsville for years to come.
