I move that the Mayor and Council adopt a proclamation declaring September 2023 to be National Preparedness Month.

Summary Background:

September has been recognized throughout the country as National Preparedness Month since 2021. Each year features a different theme related to preparing for disasters and emergencies. In 2023 the theme is “Take Control in 1, 2, 3.” This campaign focuses on preparing older adults for disasters, specifically in communities that are disproportionately impacted by all-hazard events.
