Suggested Action:

recommendation

I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to enter into an agreement with Prince Georges County to receive a direct allocation of funding from their Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) to cover necessary expenditures directly related to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

end

Summary Background:

Prince George’s County received a direct allocation from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) to cover necessary expenditures directly related to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The County allocated $15 million to its 27 municipalities on a per capita basis. Hyattsville will be eligible to seek reimbursement for $1,113,000. Expenditures must not have previously been budgeted and must directly relate to COVID-19 and be incurred between March 1, 2020 through December 15, 2020. The County requires an agreement with the municipality that outlines the conditions and obligation of each party (e.g., audit requirements, reimbursement basis, reporting, spending deadline, etc.).

Next Steps:

City Administrator Douglas and Treasurer Brooks are developing the budget request package to submit for approval so that we may begin receiving reimbursements for past and expected future expenditures.

Fiscal Impact:

$1.1M
