recommendation
I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to enter into a contract with Johnson Controls for an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, to provide the design and installation of a new city-wide camera-video management system, upon the review and approval by the City Attorney for legal sufficiency.

Summary Background:
In September 2022, the City published a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit a vendor to provide a new camera-video management system. The RFP included the installation/upgrade of security cameras and access control needs throughout the City. The City received 5 proposals and after careful evaluation and interviews with selected firms, it was determined that Johnson Controls provided the best value and product for the long-term success and stability of the systems, and provided one of the lowest costs to install and maintain. Johnson Controls will be issued a contract not to exceed $1,000,000 for the maximum contract value that will provide a turnkey design and installation of 50 security cameras and access control systems.
Next Steps:
Issue Purchase Order and Execute Contract
Fiscal Impact:
Not to exceed $1,000,000
City Administrator Comments:
Recommend approval. These systems will be monitored by the Hyattsville Police Department and will be strategically placed throughout the City in areas where more visibility is required. The City has requested grant funding for this project which may reduce the total expenditure.
