Summary Background:
The City received petitions for traffic calming devices for the 5600 block of 31st Avenue, the 6000 block of 43rd Street, and the 4000 block of Nicholson Street. The petitions were validated by the City Clerk’s office to meet the required 60% signature threshold. Council voted to schedule a public hearing at the August 5, 2024 Council Meeting. The intent of the public hearing is to present the results of the traffic studies and provide residents an opportunity to share comments in support or opposition of proposed traffic calming measures.
Next Steps:
Per City Code, the Mayor and Council will announce their decision to approve, approve with modifications, or deny the requested traffic calming devices within 15 days of the close of the hearing unless, due to extraordinary circumstances, the time limit is extended by a majority vote of the City Council. In accordance with this provision, the Council is scheduled to take action on these petitions at the October 21, 2024 Council Meeting.
