City Code Chapter 113 Revisions
end
Suggested Action:
recommendation
I move the Mayor and Council direct the City Attorney to draft an ordinance amending Chapter 113 of the City Code as recommended by the Code Compliance Advisory Committee.
end
Summary Background:
In the summer of 2021, the Code Compliance Advisory Committee sent a memo to the City Council to update outdated language in the City Code Chapter 113 related to the fining and impoundment of junk and abandoned vehicles. This revision also increases the fine for improperly parked junk vehicles at commercial businesses from $200 to $400, which the committee agreed was a more substantial fine for the offense.
These recommendations were brought to Council for discussion at the August 9, 2023 Council Meeting. It was requested that an equity analysis be conducted by the City’s Race and Equity Officer prior to Council action on this item. The equity analysis has been completed and can be found as an attachment in the background materials.
