Purchase of Furniture for the New Public Safety Building

I move the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to enter into an agreement with Douron, Inc. for the purchase and installation of furniture for the new Public Safety Building at 3505 Hamilton St for an amount not to exceed $530,000. This contract is facilitated utilizing the Mid Atlantic Purchasing Team (MAPT) collective purchasing agreement of which the City is a member.

Summary Background:
The Mid Atlantic Purchasing Team (MAPT) is a collective purchasing agreement between the members of the Washington Council of Governments and the Baltimore Council of Governments. As a member of the MAPT the City is able to utilize contracts solicited by other regional governments. Douron holds a contract to provide furniture at a price discounted from the manufacturer’s List Price, the amount of which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Douron has worked with the City to outfit the Department of Public Works, The Teen Center, and some of the furniture replacements at the City Administration Building. Douron has been working with the City on the planning of the 3505 Hamilton Street project for more than 6 years, and is ready to outfit our new facilities.

Recommend approval. In an effort to reduce costs, the city will reuse furnishings that are in good condition that can be transferred to the new facility.
