Teen Center Exterior - Playground Equipment

Suggested Action:

I move the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to enter into an agreement with Playground Specialists to furnish and install playground equipment at the Teen Center, for an amount not to exceed $200,000. This will be funded using legislative bond bill funding, and the Treasurer is authorized to make the budget amendments necessary to facilitate this expenditure.

Summary Background:

The City aims to enhance the exterior of the Teen Center to provide a safer, more aesthetically-pleasing environment for our youth. In 2021, the City was awarded legislative bond bill funding in the amount of $400,000 to support the design, construction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Teen Center. A portion of these funds will be utilized to purchase playground equipment, benches, and installation in Nicholson Park.

 

This purchase is being facilitated through the Houston Galveston Area Council collective purchasing agreement, of which the City is a member.

 

Next Steps:

Issue purchase order and schedule installation.
