Repair of Solid Waste Truck #64
end
Suggested Action:
recommendation
I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to accept the proposal from Johnson Truck Center in an amount not to exceed $12,500 for the repair of Solid Waste truck 64.
end
Summary Background:
In the summer of 2022, the Council authorized the purchase of 2 new diesel and 1 new electric trash. These trucks won’t be delivered to the City until between July 2023 and July 2024, due to production backlogs and delays throughout the supply chain. Until then, the Department must maintain the existing fleet to continue to provide the high-quality service residents deserve and come to expect. Older trucks require more frequent and costly repairs, which is one of the reasons these trucks are replaced every 5 to 7 years. Solid Waste Truck 64 is 10 years old and crucial to the Department’s operational success.
Next Steps:
Issue purchase order and complete repairs.
Fiscal Impact:
NTE $12,500
