I move that Mayor and Council authorize an expenditure in the amount of $13,722.50 for the Police Department’s purchase of the 5-panel upgrade for the current MXi KEYper System.

end

Summary Background:

In May 2022, Mayor and Council approved the purchase of two KEYper System key management systems for both the Police Department and the Department of Public Works.  The system was purchased to ensure accountability for the location, usage, and possession of vehicles, building access and office keys, and specialized equipment keys at all times.

The department uses the system for most of its vehicle fleet and a some of the building and storage keys.  The system reached its storage capacity so some of the keys are not able to be placed in the system.  To ensure all keys can be accommodated, the department is requesting the system be upgraded to 5-panels.  This upgrade would complete the system allow 288 keys to be stored.

In total, the cost for the upgrade is $13,722.50. This was accounted for in the FY24 budget for the department.
