Decommissioning and Surplus of Public Works Equipment
end
Suggested Action:
recommendation
I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the decommissioning and disposal of the equipment noted in the attached memo dated September 10, 2024.
end
Summary Background:
The Council had previously approved the purchase of new trash trucks, including a new full size electric trash truck. As the new vehicles have been delivered and put into service over the past year it has created a surplus of older equipment. The trucks being decommissioned are 2 of the oldest in the City’s fleet, including one trash truck that is 19 years old, and need significant investments to keep them operational. Decommissioning is in the best financial interest of the City.
Next Steps:
Auction and dispose of vehicles
Fiscal Impact:
Any proceeds from the auction of the vehicles will be added to the general fund.
