Summary Background:
Allie O’Neill will present to Council on the proposed Gateway Community Development Corporation management team for the Gateway Arts & Entertainment District. The Gateway Arts & Entertainment District boundary runs along Route One through the cities of Hyattsville and Mount Rainier, and the Towns of Brentwood and North Brentwood. The Arts District was established in 2001 to recognize arts and entertainment as core to the community’s identity and economic vitality in the two-mile Route One Corridor.
The proposed management team will consist of local artists, arts organizations, business owners, and municipal staff. The team will be responsible for setting annual priorities for the GCDC. We believe there are some very good opportunities to obtain additional funding and improve coordination with surrounding municipalities. While no funding is requested for FY25, funding to support the project manager position in an amount up to $25,000 will be determined on an annual basis by each municipality.
Next Steps:
An item to authorize the Mayor to enter into an MOU with the Gateway CDC is scheduled for the action agenda.
Fiscal Impact:
Up to $25,000 per municipality annually to fund the Project Manager for the Management Team. Funding is determined on an annual basis by each municipality.
