I move that the Mayor and Council accept and appropriate into the FY24 budget, the Byrne Discretionary Community Funding Grant in the amount of $100,000 toward evidence lab equipment upgrades.

Summary Background:

In April of 2022, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) invited the City of Hyattsville to submit an application for the BJA FY22 Byrne Discretionary Community Funding Grant.  For Fiscal Year 2022, the City applied for funding to upgrade evidence lab equipment to be used in the Police Department building located at 3505 Hamilton Street.  In July 2022, the City was notified that it was awarded $100,000 towards the purchase of lab equipment.

Accept and appropriate grand funding.
