Summary Background:

In 2017 City staff began preparing for the reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, curbs, and associated infrastructure in the West Hyattsville section of the City. In 2018 the City Council adopted the Hyattsville Transportation Study that included recommendations and action items for improving infrastructure for motorists, cyclist, and pedestrians. In 2019 the City completed an Asphalt Inventory and Assessment. In 2020 the City Council authorized On-Call Transportation and Stormwater engineering contracts. City Staff have been working to combine all of the data and resources listed above to prepare a multi-year plan for the West Hyattsville Road Reconstruction Project. As part of this work all or portions of Kimberly Road, Kelliher Road, Lancer Place, 33rd Place, Manorwood Drive, and 32nd Avenue have been identified as candidates for reconstruction for Phase 1. City Staff are continuing to work to develop additional phases of work and will present them to the Council at a future meeting.
