recommendation
I move the Mayor and Council authorize an expenditure not to exceed $225,000 to SMC for the renovation of the truck wash bay at Public Works under their existing contract with the City.
end
Summary Background:
Washing trucks is an important part of the regular maintenance of the City vehicle fleet to remove salts and other chemicals that can corrode or otherwise damage the vehicle. Truck washing can also help remove and contain pollutants preventing them from entering the ecosystem. The existing truck wash bay at Public Works was constructed more than 40 years ago. The current wash bay is too small to properly fit most of the vehicles in the existing fleet and does not meet current environmental standards. The renovation of the wash bay is required to ensure that the City is meeting its obligations under the Maryland Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP).
Next Steps:
Issue purchase order and schedule construction.
Fiscal Impact:
NTE $225,000
