I move the Mayor and Council authorize an expenditure not to exceed $1,650,000 to NZI Construction Inc. for the reconstruction of the roads and sidewalks as well as the installation of drainage and traffic calming in the Landhart Neighborhood located behind Bestway and south of Hamilton Street. This work is facilitated utilizing their existing rider contract with the City and funding was included in the FY24 CIP budget. The Treasurer is authorized to make the necessary budget amendments to facilitate this expenditure.

Summary Background:
In 2020, during the pandemic the City began to address a number of traffic complaints on Gallatin Street from 35th Place to 37th Street (Ward 5), including installing a number of temporary traffic calming devices. Pennoni, one of the City's On-Call Transportation Engineering and Design contractors studied the area to determine more permanent traffic calming measures that could be implemented. The City hosted a number of community outreach and engagement opportunities with Ward 5 Councilmembers and residents, and presented a final version of the plan to Council in early 2023. The City has a contracted with NZI to proceed. This authorization will allow the project to begin construction.

Next Steps:
Issue purchase order and schedule construction. Conduct outreach to residents to let them know that we will proceed with work.

Fiscal Impact:
NTE $1,650,000. This includes contingency funding for unanticipated costs.
