I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the expenditure of $32,860.13 for the renewal of the Annual Motorola Service Agreement for the maintenance on our dispatch console, portable and mobile radios.

Summary Background:

The City of Hyattsville Police Department purchased a new Motorola, state of the art radio communications dispatch system in 2011. The cost was $350K. For several years the system was under a manufacturer’s warranty and all repairs, upgrades and tech support were covered. The warranty has since expired and an annual service agreement is required to allow the Police Department to receive periodic software updates, equipment upgrades and to provide us with 24 hours, 7 days a week emergency service, should the system go down or need repair.
