FY21 Budget Appropriation: Distracted Driving Enforcement Grant Award

Suggested Action:

I move that the Mayor and Council amend and increase the FY21 Special Revenues Fund Budget and to accept and appropriate the FY21 Distracted Driving Enforcement grant award in the amount of $2,000 from the Maryland Highway Safety Office (MHSO) for the purpose of providing overtime funding for the enforcement of motor vehicle laws.

Summary Background:
The MHSO administers grant-funded programs that address priority areas such as impaired driving prevention, occupant protection, aggressive driving prevention, distracted driving prevention, and the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, younger, and older drivers. This is an annual grant. For FY21, the MHSO has awarded $2,000 to the Hyattsville City Police Department.
