Suggested Action:
recommendation
I move that the Mayor and Council approve a $10,000 donation to Route One Community Cares (ROCC).
end
Summary Background:
ROCC was created to provide meals to those facing hunger in our local area. ROCC is made up of volunteer residents who have been working with the adjacent communities of Hyattsville, College Park, Riverdale, and University Park to address two issues: feeding those in need and utilizing local restaurants to provide meals. Utilizing local restaurants helps support local businesses that have been impacted due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
These funds would be transferred by using a portion of the unspent balance of money previously appropriated for Hyattsville Pandemic Relief funding administered by Employ Prince George’s.
For additional details, see the two attachments.
Next Steps:
Upon the approval of funding, the City shall transfer funds to Route One Community Cares and prepare a press release encouraging further philanthropic donations by residents to ROCC.
Fiscal Impact:
$10,000
City Administrator Comments:
