Suggested Action:

recommendation

I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to accept the Chesapeake & Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund Grant, administered by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, in an amount of $170,000 for the construction of a submerged gravel wetland at the intersection of 42nd Ave and Charles Armentrout Drive. In addition, the treasurer is authorized to appropriate the funds accordingly to meet the requirements of the grant.

Summary Background:

In March of 2020 Council was presented with the Lower Ward 1 Community Resiliency Plan. The submerged gravel wetland was chosen to be the first project due to lower construction cost and shorter design time. This project is also a pilot project whose successful completion will be used as a model for other similar projects.

Next Steps:

Solicit and award the construction of the project.

Fiscal Impact:

$170,000
