I move the Mayor and Council adopt a proclamation recognizing and honoring June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

Summary Background:

2023 marks the 19th anniversary of Caribbean-American Heritage Month nationally, and more than four million Caribbean-Americans live in the United States that enrich our nation. The City of Hyattsville is fortunate to have a diverse community, which includes residents who have roots in the many nations and cultures of the Caribbean, and the City Council and Mayor acknowledge the role Caribbean-Americans continue to play in helping create and maintain the strength and independence of our community.
