Summary Background:
On October 21, 2022, the Hyattsville Police Department applied for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development - Community Safety Works Grant. The purpose of this grant was to secure grant funds for the upgrade of the City’s closed circuit television system (CCTV). On December 29, 2022, the City of Hyattsville was awarded $95,000.
In September 2022, the City published a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit a vendor to provide a new camera-video management system. It was determined that Johnson Controls provided the best value and product for the long-term success and stability of the systems and provided one of the lowest costs to install and maintain. The grant monies will reduce the total expenditure of $1,000,000.
