Purchase of Two Truck for Public Works

I move that the Mayor and Council authorize the City Administrator to purchase two 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks from Sport Automotive for an expenditure not to exceed $100,000. The Treasurer is authorized to make the necessary budget amendments to facilitate this expenditure from the FY24 approved Capital budget.

Summary Background:
The Department of Public Works has been working over the past several years to upgrade the fleet. A number of vehicles in the fleet are up to 16 years old, far exceeding the typical 5-7 year lifespan for a fleet vehicle. In addition, over the past several years staffing has grown putting pressure on the Department to field enough vehicles to fulfill staff missions. While Staff would prefer to purchase an electric truck, unfortunately they will not be widely available until late 2024 or 2025. These vehicle purchases were included in the FY24 Capital Improvement Plan budget adopted by Council in June.
