Summary Background:
The committee stipend program is a Council budget initiative funded in the FY23 and FY24 budgets. The aim of the program is to improve the demographic diversity of the members of the City’s advisory bodies by lessening the financial burden one might incur as member. At present, the City has made two stipend payments to members of advisory bodies, one in June of 2023 and one in January of 2024. Members who are enrolled in the program receive $40 per meeting attended. City staff have collected demographic data at the start of the program, December of 2022, and one year after the start of the program, December of 2023. The data collected, current state of the program, and potential next steps will be outlined in the presentation.
